Tupper road job returns Monday
TUPPER LAKE – A $15.6 million reconstruction of state Routes 3 and 30 in this village will resume Monday, according to the state Department of Transportation.
“Be on the lookout for construction,” DOT Engineer-In-Charge Tom Maroun said.
Two construction crews will begin working on sewer laterals and drainage of the section of Wawbeek Avenue from Arden Street to Park Street Monday, Maroun said. A third crew will be off Park Street connecting side streets to a water line installed last year.
In late April, Maroun said crews will install water and sewer lines along east Park Street in front of Tupper Lake Middle-High School in preparation for the blasting and drilling necessary to lower the roadway.
Maroun said the project will pick up where it left off last year, installing water and sewer lines and reconstructing the roadway. He said the project is scheduled for completion at the end of November, depending upon the weather.
“We’re getting an earlier start than we did last year, so that should help us out,” he said.
The project, when complete, will have reconstructed more than a mile of highway through the village, replacing pavement, drainage, water and sewer lines, curbs, sidewalks and retaining walls while upgrading Park Street’s lighting. It is rerouting traffic between the Faust and Moody neighborhoods (toward Piercefield and Long Lake) from Park Street to Lake Street and creating a new, wider turning lane path for traffic on Mill Street, which Maroun said will be relocated to the site of the former DiStefano’s liquor store building at 131 Park St.
