Podcast host posts fake @MattAndSweat tweets

What would escaped Clinton Correctional Facility inmates Richard Matt and David Sweat tweet while on the run?

That is the question talk radio and podcast host Bryan Suits set out to answer June 20, when he changed the name of one of his two twitter accounts from @TheBryanSuits to @MattAndSweat. He announced the switch on his show, “Dark Secret Place,” a podcast posted on the website of KFI-AM 640, a talk radio station broadcast out of Los Angeles.

“At approximately 3 p.m. (Sunday), they started tweeting on my twitter feed,” Suits said on an episode of “Dark Secret Place” posted Monday morning to www.kfiam640.com. “They still have control of it, and I think they’ll be tweeting on my twitter feed until they’re caught because their tweets were so darn entertaining today.”

As of press time, the account’s description reads, “2 single guys. Camping. 1 sleeping bag.” Sample tweets include the following:

“Do helicopters EVER run out of gas? Asking for a friend.

“Why does Sweat laugh whenever I ‘Yahoo’ something on the internets?

“To my son Nick: I’m willing to let you apologize to me today. A Ford F-250 and some jerky would be a start. Hugs?

“Escapee Tip 9: Choose a burglar-car thief as a partner. Matt and I realized today that our ‘skill sets’ are redundant.

“Me and Sweat are swiping thru Tinder. We’re starting to think Joyce Mitchell isn’t hot. Time to take off the Lifer Goggles!

“Heads up future escapees: There is NO fruit at an “Apple Store.” It was all nerd crap.

“Is anyone just east of Friendship, NY a 40 Regular? And NRA member? Asking for a friend.

“Escapee Tip No. 7: Don’t waste time looking for a day job making license plates on the outside. Trust us.”

The feed currently had 4,251 followers this morning. Suits has been on twitter since 2009, and it is unclear how many new followers he has gained since switching to the “MattAndSweat” personae.

As of press time, Suits has posted more than 100 tweets as “MattAndSweat.” Many of the posts use crude or sexual humor.

Judging by a few of his posts, not everyone has been amused by it.

“Sweat and I took a vote. We win 2-0. We’re Tweeting again. Don’t like it? Tunnel out of your disgust and block us,” he wrote Monday. “Attention! Anyone annoyed by our feed, or you just don’t find us amusing in the least, BLOCK us! But it’s your loss.”

Despite directing most of the feed’s tweets to #prisonbreakny, his tweets do not show up on that hashtag. (It is unclear when exactly he was blocked from posting there) The Enterprise noted that at least one tweeter who had re-tweeted one of his posts was also removed from the hashtag Monday.

Starting at $3.92/week.
