One injured in two-car collision

LAKE PLACID – One person was taken to the hospital following a two-car collision here Friday evening.

The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department responded to 12 George and Bliss Lane, located off of Mirror Lake Drive, at 5:18 p.m.

Firefighters said they extricated one person from one of the vehicles. The patient complained of neck and head pain and was transported to Adirondack Medical Center in Lake Placid by the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service.

State police responded to the collision but troopers were not able to provide any further information as of press time.

Firefighters were back in service at 6:39 p.m.

Police: Man shoved woman

GABRIELS – A local man was arrested here Thursday night after police were called to the scene of a reported domestic dispute.

Troopers responded to 34 county Route 60, lot 4, at approximately 8 p.m. In a press release, police said 33-year-old Jonathan D. Michael of Gabriels shoved a 34-year-old female victim during an altercation, violating an active order of protection. Troopers said a 10-year-old girl was present at the time of the dispute.

Michael was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment.

He was arraigned in town of Harrietstown court and remanded to the Franklin County Jail in Malone in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

Michael is scheduled to appear in town of Brighton court on Sept. 3 at 7 p.m.

LAKE PLACID – The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department responded to a possible boat fire at Camp 210 on Lake Placid at 6:05 p.m. Friday with one truck, two boats and 17 members. Firefighters said they believe a belt fell off the boat and overheated. Firefighters towed the boat back to the state boat launch and were back in service at 7:15 p.m.

SARANAC LAKE – Village police charged Rickey A. Gladding, 36, of Tupper Lake, with second-degree criminal trespass at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday. Police said he refused to leave another person’s residence. Gladding was released on an appearance ticket for town of Harrietstown court.

SARANAC LAKE – Village police charged Jeremiah D. Lamica, 30, of Malone, with violation of probation, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday. Police said Lamica was arrested on a bench warrant for violating the terms of his probation. While he was being searched, Lamica was allegedly found in possession of a small amount of cocaine and marijuana. He was transported to the Franklin County Jail in Malone to await arraignment in county court.

AuSABLE FORKS – A Lake Placid man was arrested this weekend for punching another person in the face three months ago.

Ray-Brook based state police charged Ryan E. Lawrence, 21, with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, at 2:35 p.m. Sunday.

Police said the charge stems from an investigation of an incident reported on May 18 at 2 a.m., when the victim was being treated at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh.

The assault allegedly took place on a sidewalk on state Route 9N in AuSable Forks, near Holy Name Church. Police said the victim was punched in the face and received stitches on the inside and outside of his lip.

Lawrence was given an apperance ticket for town of Jay court on Sept 8.

LAKE PLACID – The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department responded to a 33 John Brown Rd. at 4:36 p.m. Tuesday with one truck and 10 members. Firefighters said a tree had fallen on the power lines and was burning. Firefighters secured the scene until a village Electric Department crew arrived and removed the tree. Firefighters were back in service at 5:17 p.m.

LAKE PLACID – The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department responded to a motorcycle crash on River Road at 7:43 p.m. Monday with one truck and 17 members. Firefighters said the motorcyle operator drove off the road and suffered minor injuries but declined transport to the hospital Firefighters were back in service at 8:08 p.m.

SARANAC LAKE – Village police charged Franklin L. Drew, 60, of Tupper Lake, with driving while intoxicated at 2:24 p.m. Friday. Police said they responded to an anonymous complaint of a person drinking and driving while heading toward Saranac Lake from Tupper Lake. Police observed the car on LaPan Highway and saw it had a break light out. After an interview, police determined the driver, Drew, had consumed alcohol and was driving while consuming alcohol. He was given field sobriety tests and subsequently arrested for DWI. Drew was processed and released on tickets to appear in town of Harrietstown court at a later date.

SARANAC LAKE – Village police charged Michael D. Hubbard, 33, of Saranac Lake, with failure to appear at 10:35 a.m. Sunday. Police said Hubbard was arrested on a bench warrant issued by town of Harrietstown court for failing to appear July 21 to answer a charge of driving while intoxicated and other vehicle and traffic offenses. Hubbard was processed, arraigned and remanded to the Franklin County Jail in Malone in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.

SARANAC LAKE – Village police charged James L. Forsyth, 49, of Saranac Lake, with driving while intoxicated at 10:27 p.m. Tuesday. Police said Forsyth was stopped for vehicle and traffic law infractions and subsequently found to be intoxicated. He was released on an appearance ticket for town of North Elba court.

LAKE PLACID – Village police charged a 17-year-old male from Plattsburgh with second-degree harassment and two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief at 7:59 p.m. Thursday. Police said they were assisting state police in attempting to locate a runaway from Mountain Lake Academy, who was last seen in Lake Placid. After locating the teenager, whose name was not released because he may be eligible for youthful offender status, police learned he had thrown rocks at the windows of local houses and struck a staff member of the children’s residence. He was processed, arraigned and remanded to the Essex County Jail in lieu of $500 bail.

LAKE PLACID – State police charged Elizabeth J. Barry, 26, of Lake Placid, with aggravated driving while intoxicated at 3:48 a.m. Saturday. Police said the arrest occurred on Balsam Street in the town of North Elba. Barry was processed and released to a third party to appear in town court at a later date.

LAKE PLACID – The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department responded to a backcountry rescue on the Cascade Mountain trail at 12:02 p.m. Sunday with one truck and six members. The Keene and Keene Valley fire departments also responded. Firefighters said a hiker who had difficulty breathing was assisted out of the woods and treated by Keene emergency medical personnel. Lake Placid firefighters were back in service at 12:21 p.m.
