LAKE PLACID — The Reynolds Group of Lake Placid LLC real estate brokerage has hired two new agents: Lorie Harden and David Trahey.

Harden has lived in Lake Placid since 1999, and she and her husband raised three children here, all graduates of Northwood School and ski racers.

She graduated from Cazenovia College with a degree in design, which led to her role as director of design and product development for Harden Furniture Inc.

From there she segued into her current role as founder of Harden Design Ltd., a residential and commercial firm with a strong focus on the second-home market and new construction. Harden Design has completed projects in many luxury mountain towns including Lake Placid; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Cashiers, North Carolina; Whitefish, Montana; and Jasper Highlands in Kimball, Tennessee, and she continues to take on new assignments across the country.

She has acted as a trustee for Cazenovia College and Northwood School, and is an active supporter of the New York Ski Education Foundation.

She is an avid skier, cyclist and golfer, and you’ll often see her starting her mornings on a stand-up paddleboard on Lake Placid lake.

Trahey was born in Akron, Ohio, and moved to the Lake Placid area in 2006, when he fell in love with the natural beauty of the Adirondacks. Soon thereafter, he attended Paul Smith’s College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science from the School of Forestry.

After graduation, he specialized in working with local farms. There he honed his skills in customer service and developed a wide-reaching client network, which led to caretaking positions at many prestigious Adirondack camps.

He lives in Paul Smiths with his wife Elizabeth, a research associate and the laboratory manager for the Adirondack Watershed Institute. They are often found together paddling on the St. Regis chain of lakes or fishing for brook trout on many of the local small streams and ponds.

Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, and his enthusiasm for eating locally sourced foods is contagious. Also an avid trail runner and cross-country skier, he supports his alma mater by contributing his expertise to the many trails and programs at the Visitor Interpretive Center at Paul Smith’s College. He also has been an active volunteer for Special Olympics.
