Saranac Lake native earns 35th college degree

Awarded degrees from 20 universities/colleges

SARANAC LAKE — On Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, Joseph Segriff earned his 35th degree, an associate degree in psychology, summa cum laude, from Butler County Community College in Butler, Pennsylvania. He was selected for inclusion on the BCCC President’s List, fall semester 2025. This degree marks the 20th university/college that he has graduated from with at least one earned college degree.

In addition, on Aug. 24, 2025, Segriff earned an associate degree in early childhood education from Hudson County Community College in Jersey City, New Jersey, summa cum laude. Also, a few months earlier, on May 21, he earned an associate degree in criminal justice during HCCC’s 48th commencement ceremony held at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, summa cum laude. Segriff was congratulated “for achieving a GPA of 4.0 and making the spring 2025 Dean’s List.”

On May 15, 2025, Segriff graduated from Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, with an associate degree in liberal studies, summa cum laude. In addition, Segriff was selected for inclusion on the MCCC’s Dean’s Commendation List for part-time students. Earlier that month, on May 6, he graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College in Hershey, Pennsylvania, with an associate degree in Social Sciences, summa cum laude. Majoring in social sciences, Segriff was also named to Harrisburg Area Community College’s fall 2024 Dean’s List.

Segriff’s HACC history professor found two of his political science papers noteworthy: “The Ending of the Cold War was more about an Old Sick Animal Dying rather than an Old Man Bragging about Killing the Animal” and “Cracks begin to form along the Fault Lines of American Hegemony: Mixing Business, Politics, and sprinkling small amounts of Humanity here and there have proven Disastrous for American Democracy,” (April 2025).

On Jan. 25, 2025, Segriff graduated from Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, with an associate degree in philosophy and a 4.0 GPA. He was included in the NCC’s spring 2024 dean’s List. On May 16, 2024, he graduated from Hudson County Community College’s 47th annual commencement ceremony. He earned his associate degree in English, summa cum laude. Just the day before that, Segriff graduated from Lehigh Carbon Community College’s 57th annual commencement ceremony in Allentown, Pennsylvania with an associate degree in Criminal Justice, summa cum laude. In addition, he was also included in LCCC’s Dean’s List for the fall 2023 semester.

Segriff is currently a student at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Maryland, majoring in gender and sexuality studies. He is also a student at Hudson County Community College, majoring in theater arts. Segriff holds academic expertise in several scholarly areas, including writing pedagogy, academic writing and psychiatric social history. He is a professional certified life coach who has been living in New Jersey for more than 20 years. Segriff’s hometown is Saranac Lake. He graduated from Saranac Lake Central High School in June 1974.
