SARANAC LAKE — The Heart Network recently announced the hiring of its new tobacco project coordinator.
Hanna Schneider stepped into her new role in October. As tobacco project coordinator, she helps The Heart Network work with partners and healthcare providers to implement evidence-based tobacco cessation programming across the North Country.
“Our work at the local level to help people quit using tobacco has made major strides in recent years, and that success tracks with the decline in smoking rates at the state and national levels,” said Ann Morgan, executive director of The Heart Network. “Our program is focused on working with providers to help them help their patients, and connecting people with free resources that can help them quit. Hanna is already out there helping us accomplish these goals and we’re so happy to have her on board.”
Schneider was born and raised in upstate New York. She graduated with a master’s in health administration from Utica University and a bachelor’s in science in finance from Bentley University. Her journey in the field began as a Public Health Americorps Service Member, where she found a passion for supporting healthier and more informed communities. With a unique blend of health and finance experience, she brings an analytical and community-focused approach to her work.
“It’s been exciting to collaborate with healthcare providers to reduce tobacco use and improve cardiovascular health,” Schneider said. “I am deeply passionate about heart health and committed to making a positive impact in this vital area of care.”
One of The Heart Network’s main initiatives is North Country Nicotine Consultants, a collaboration with Glens Falls Hospitals that provides technical assistance and consultation to providers and clinicians to help increase the delivery of comprehensive, evidence-based treatment for nicotine dependence.
