SARANAC LAKE — A local student was awarded a scholarship from the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and St. Joseph’s Addiction Treatment and Recovery Centers last month.
The Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce partners with St. Joseph’s Addiction Treatment and Recovery Centers each year to provide a graduating senior from the Saranac Lake Central School district the “Energizing Entrepreneurs” Scholarship. This year’s $1,000 scholarship was awarded to Logan Daunais-Martelle at the Saranac Lake High School graduation ceremony on June 26.
The scholarship is intended for a student who will be studying business, possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit, be civically minded, or have an interest in starting their own business, vocation, or trade. The scholarship is given directly to the student recipient to help with educational costs and the Saranac Lake High School Scholarship Committee assists the Chamber in determining a recipient. Both North Country Community College and Paul Smith’s College offer a match if the student attends their respective college.
Daunais-Martelle grew up in Saranac Lake and is an avid sports athlete playing football, basketball, and baseball. He currently works at Blue Moon Cafe and will be attending North Country Community College pursuing a Business Degree.
The Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce acts as a catalyst for business and community development by providing services and representation for its membership and to generate economic development through promotional and marketing strategies. The chamber provides business-building initiatives that focus on the critical priorities of the Saranac Lake community.
