POTSDAM — The Potsdam College Foundation Board of Trustees recently welcomed Dr. Daniel A. Voce of Lake Placid as its newest trustee.

Dr. Daniel A. Voce earned dual degrees from SUNY Potsdam, including undergraduate majors in computer science and mathematics, and a master’s degree in mathematics. He went on to complete a Ph.D. in mathematics at the University at Albany. With 27 years of experience in systems and software engineering, cyber, communication networks and IT, Voce has held numerous technical and management roles of increasing responsibility for Leidos, Lockheed Martin ISandGS and Space Systems Company. He also held systems and software engineering positions with COMSAT Laboratories and IBM earlier in his career. He is published in numerous technical journals and holds three patents in network communications.

Today, Voce is the senior vice president for growth and integration for Leidos, a $15 billion corporation of 46,000 employees, serving the U.S. and global public sectors. In this role, Voce oversees new markets and program delivery for the $4 billion Leidos Defense business unit and its 12,000 employees working across the Department of Defense. He also manages the 1901 Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos specializing in IT and software managed service delivery and cloud deployments.

In his prior role, Voce led the Enterprise and Cyber Solutions Operation within Leidos Defense, managing a program portfolio of 4,200 employees and leading large-scale programs across the Defense Information Systems Agency, Army, Navy, Air Force, NATO and other Defense Agencies. His responsibilities included management and technical performance oversight to ensure performance delivery to mission partners. Prior to this, he was the vice president of DoD networks for Leidos, leading the operations, transition to service and cyber programs for DISA, as well as the buildout and test of the IT infrastructure in the new NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

Prior to joining Leidos, Voce was the director of engineering for the Enterprise IT Solutions line of business within Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Solutions, which merged with Leidos in 2016. In this position, he was responsible for the development and oversight of the cyber and IT integration strategy, technical performance and alignment to customer objectives.

Previous to this, Voce served as chief engineer for the GSM-O capture and startup effort, a contract with a $4.6 billion ceiling. He was the technical lead for development of the solution strategy and technical approach. As a Lockheed Martin Senior Fellow, he provided leadership to the program transition, a global multi-site effort spanning Southwest Asia, Europe, North America and the Pacific theater. He also previously served as chief network architect for the Iridium NEXT satellite constellation, responsible for the development of the next generation network architecture and satellite payload design of the global mobile network. He also served as chief network engineer for the Transformational Satellite program, a $600 million contract, in which he led a large network engineering team responsible for the development of space-based communications protocols and an integrated path-to-flight implementation.
