NCCC raises $600 for Homeward Bound
North Country Community College raised $600 for Homeward Bound Adirondacks through a pair of raffles leading up to Veterans Day. NCCC President Joe Keegan, right, recently handed off the funds to Homeward Bound board member Amy Tuthill, the college’s associate director of recruitment and VA officer. The raffles, which included tickets to Army football and hockey games, were spearheaded by Kim Duffey, chair of the college’s business program. Homeward Bound Adirondacks offers year-round healing retreats in the Adirondacks for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder to include equine assisted therapy, hiking, canoeing, bonfires and team building exercises. It’s currently building a retreat center near Lake Titus, south of Malone. The organization also provides transportation to medical and mental health appointments, crisis outreach, referral and linkage services, all at no cost to the veteran. (Provided photo)
