‘Pride and Prejudice’ outdoors for weekend
KEENE VALLEY — The Book and Blanket Players, sponsored by East Branch Friends of the Arts, has been producing youth musicals-in-a-week summer theater for 11 years in Keene Valley.
This year, the theatrical adventure continues with an emphasis on flexibility and outdoor rehearsals and performance. The Keene Valley Library will serve as the hub and the performance will be on the lawn at the Neighborhood House at 1 p.m. Saturday and outdoors at the Keene Valley Country Club in Keene Valley at 3 p.m. Sunday. The production is a new and improved original musical adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” with lyrics by Kathleen Recchia, music by Kathleen Recchia and Sam Balzac and arrangements by Sam Balzac. The original musical is written in the style of Rodgers and Hammerstein and Lerner and Loewe.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to share live theater with the folks who live at the Neighborhood House in Keene Valley,” said Kathleen Recchia, Book and Blaknet Players producer and director. “They will be able to watch from the building as our musical unfolds on their front lawn.”
Reservations are required for the Saturday performance. To make reservations or for more information, call 518-708-3606 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
