Sweeney earns Part-Time Honors at SUNY Canton

CANTON — SUNY Canton recognized Madison Sweeney, an Applied Psychology major from Saranac Lake, as a part-time student who earned academic awards during the spring 2021 semester.

The college created Part-Time Honors to recognize students who earned at least a 3.25 GPA in 6 to 11 credits of course work. It stands alongside the college’s Dean’s List and President’s List as one of the top awards given for academic success at the college.

Many locals make SUNY Plattsburgh Dean’s List

PLATTSBURGH — The SUNY Plattsburgh Dean’s List for spring 2021 includes students from 21 states and 28 other countries.

This semester’s dean’s list required a minimum of nine credits taken for a standard letter grade for full time students. Part-time, matriculated students are also eligible for the dean’s list after accruing 12 credit hours consecutively and achieving a minimum 3.5 grade point average. The credits may be accumulated in more than one semester.

Graduate students are not included in the list.

Decker makes Montana State President’s List

BOZEMAN, Mont. — Cecily Decker of Saranac Lake was named to the President’s List at Montana State University in Bozeman. She maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout the 2020-21 academic year.

Stephenson makes St. Rose Dean’s List

ALBANY — The College of Saint Rose announced that Alexis Stephenson of Saranac Lake, who is majoring in English, earned Dean’s List honors for the spring semester. Full-time undergraduate students, who complete at least 12 graded credit hours and who achieve a semester average of 3.5 without a D, F or Incomplete grade are eligible for the Dean’s List.

Jared Smith graduates UVM

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Jared Smith of Lake Placid has graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Vermont.

UVM is conferring degrees on graduates at multiple, smaller in-person ceremonies this year, as a COVID-19 safety tactic. An estimated 3,347 graduates — including 2,685 bachelors, 435 masters, 117 doctoral and 110 medical — earned degrees during the university’s 220th commencement.

Cohen makes U. of Vermont Dean’s List

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Madeleine Cohen of Keene Valley has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Vermont for the spring 2021 semester.

To qualify, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20% of their class.

Cecunjanin makes Eastern Connecticut St. Dean’s List

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. — Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its Dean’s List for the spring 2021 semester, in which nearly 1,300 students were recognized for maintaining high GPAs. Among them is full-time student Merita Cecunjanin of Lake Placid, who majors in business administration.

To qualify for Dean’s List, full-time students must complete a minimum of 12 credits in letter-graded courses with an average GPA of 3.5 or higher in the semester.
