Barney gets master’s from Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. — Samantha Barney of Lake Placid received her Master of Education degree in Reading and Literacy as Endicott College held its 81st annual commencement exercises on May 22.

Endicott’s undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students participated in the ceremony at Hempstead Stadium on the Endicott campus in Beverly, Mass. The commencement speaker was Dana Bash, CNN’s chief political correspondent and co-anchor of “State of the Union with Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.” Bash provided a virtual address and received an honorary Doctor of Journalism, which was accepted on her behalf by Melissa Hempstead, Class of 1969, chair of the Endicott College Board of Trustees.

Bishop makes Endicott College Dean’s List

BEVERLY, Mass. — Emma Bishop of Lake Placid is among those named to the Dean’s List at Endicott College for the spring 2021 semester.

Bishop is majoring in Hospitality Management and is the daughter of Danielle Bishop and Brian Bishop.

In order to qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must obtain a minimum grade point average of 3.5, receive no letter grade below C, have no withdrawal grades and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits for the semester.

Locals made Cortland President’s List last fall

CORTLAND — The following local residents were among 802 SUNY Cortland students who earned President’s List honors for the fall 2020 semester:

¯ Royal McDonnell of Paul Smiths, majoring in Exercise Science.

¯ Makayla Schmidt of Bloomingdale, majoring in Early Childhood Education B-6.

To qualify for the President’s List, students must earn a grade of A-minus or better in each of their classes while carrying a course load of 12 hours or more.

Wilson named to SUNYAC Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll

POTSDAM — Owen Wilson of Saranac Lake was among the 100 SUNY Potsdam student-athletes to earn a spot on the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll for the 2020-21 school year, the conference announced Monday, June 21.

Athletes named to the honor roll had a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA for the year.

Wilson is is a junior member of the SUNY Potsdam men’s cross country and track and field team.

SUNY Potsdam is a member of NCAA Division III and SUNYAC.
