Shelby Jewtraw joins National Society of Collegiate Scholars

SARANAC LAKE — Shelby Jewtraw of Saranac Lake has accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Founded in 1994, NSCS is an honor society for high-achieving college students with a 3.0 minimum grade point average. NSCS says it invites less than 10% of all eligible students nationwide to join the ranks annually. Benefits include access to scholarships, chapter funds and awards, professional development resources, exclusive tailored content, and leadership and service experiences.

Jewtraw is in her third year at the College at Brockport, part of the State University of New York. Her two majors are social work and sociology. She looks forward to getting her master’s degree and working as a school guidance counselor or a hospital social worker specializing in pediatric care, like her sister Gracee received before she died from cancer at age 10 in 2016.
