Kiwanis club helps foster kids

The Saranac Lake Kiwanis Club delivers two truckloads of needed supplies to the Foster Care Unit of the Franklin County Department of Social Services. The items are as diverse as the children who are helped, including duffel bags, clothing, games, toys, diapers, blankets and sleeping bags. Chelsea LaBare of DSS spoke to Kiwanis and described children in need who frequently must leave their homes without notice, their meager belongings thrown into a garbage bag. Believing such degradation adds insult to injury, the Kiwanis club again tapped into the generosity of the people of Saranac Lake and the surrounding area. The club plans to continue this effort.
