Library system board adds new Essex County rep

PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library System is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher Drennan of Essex to its Board of Trustees, representing Essex County.

Drennan received his Diplome D’etudes Collegiales from College Dawson, Montreal, his Bachelor of Arts with Honors from Concordia University, Montreal, his M.Sc. from the London School of Economics and Political Science, England, and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

After a period of teaching Hegelian philosophy at the graduate level and political thought at the undergraduate level at the University of Nevada-Reno, he moved to the North Country and began teaching at North Country Community College. Later he became a member of the faculty at Clinton Community College and has since taught various courses in history, political science and economics, as well as teaching part time at Plattsburgh State University.

Drennan served as a delegate representing Clinton Community College to the SUNY Faculty Council of Community Colleges from 2010 to 2012. He served as a member of the planning committee for the Quadricentennial Celebration (“The Legacy of the Lake and its People”) held at Clinton Community College during July 2009. He is also a longtime advisor to the college’s chapter (Alpha Pi Tau) of the International Honor Society of the two-year college (Phi Theta Kappa).

The Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library System Board of Trustees consists of 15 members, five each from Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties. Trustees are appointed by the boards of legislators or supervisors of their respective counties. The objective of the system is to foster and improve public library service to the residents of the system area.
