The Rotary Club of Saranac Lake and Romano’s Lanes recently co-hosts Pins Against Polio, a bowling event to raise funds and awareness of polio, which is nearly but not quite eradicated. Until the world is polio-free for two years, Rotary International will continue to be part of global efforts to end it. Polio is a vaccine-preventable disease that once paralyzed hundreds of thousands of children each year.

Rotary Area Governor Jenn Grisi updates the Saranac Lake club after attending the annual District 7040 conference. The event, held this year in Clayton, gives Rotarians a chance to share ideas for community and international projects and expanding opportunities to provide better service to our own communities in Rotary’s areas of focus: basic education and literacy, maternal and child health, economic and community development, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, and peace and conflict resolution/prevention.
