Forest ranger’s son earns scholarship for college

Dan Marrone, son of retired Lt. Bob Marrone of the New York State Forest Rangers, was awarded a scholarship from the Forest Ranger Scholarship Foundation.

The FRSF was created in the name of Forest ranger Jim DeLaire, who passed away on the job in 1988.

Recipients of the award are children of current or retired forest rangers who are pursuing college educations.

Marrone is currently working on his masters degree to enter the secondary education field. He is currently attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix Arizona.
