WESTPORT — The Saranac Lake boys and girls cross country teams earned a sweep Tuesday, each claiming three victories in a meet held on a 3-mile course at Camp Dudley.
The meet included the Red Storm, Lake Placid, Northeastern Clinton and Moriah-Westport.
Saranac Lake’s Anderson Gray ran to victory in the boys race, finishing first overall in 17 minutes. The first three finishers crossed the line within eight seconds of each other, with Lauchlan Cheney-Seymour placing runner-up for the Red Storm in 17:04 and Scott Schulz of Lake Placid rounding out the top three in 17:08.
The Red Storm boys placed six runners in the top 10 as they remained undefeated.
On the girls side, Madison Grimone was the overall winner for Saranac Lake, topping the girls field in 20:57. Lake Placid then grabbed the next two spots, with Marli Damp finishing second in 21:26 and Annie Rose-McCandlish taking third in 21:29.
Just like the boys squad, Saranac Lake’s girls saw six runners finish in the top 10.

GIRLS SOCCER

PLATTSBURGH — The Lake Placid girls soccer team didn’t avenge a loss to Seton Catholic suffered at home when the two squads met earlier this season, but the Blue Bombers were able to avoid a sweep.
The teams played to a scoreless draw on Tuesday in Plattsburgh.
In a match that had no shortage of shots, Lake Placid’s Shelby Jewtraw and Seton Catholic’s Leah Walker posted shutout performances in goal. Jewtraw finished with 15 saves and Walker had 20 for the host Knights.

VOLLEYBALL
AuSable Valley 3, Lake Placid 2
LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid volleyball team was able to make up a two-set deficit to tie AuSable Valley, but the Patriots had the final say by winning the fifth and deciding set to knock off the Blue Bombers 3-2 Tuesday in Champlain Valley Athletic Conferernce play.
AuSable won by scores of 25-13, 25-19, 22-25, 25-27 and 25-19.
Taylor Mattila paced AuSable Valley with 15 points, nine aces, eight assists, three digs and two kills.
Barrett Smith and Olivia Sawyer combined for 27 points to lead Lake Placid. Graci Daby recorded 12 assists in the loss.

Peru 3, Saranac Lake 0
PERU — The Saranac Lake volleyball team closed the gap a bit after dropping the first set by a 25-13 score against Peru on Tuesday, but the effort wasn’t enough as the Indians claimed a 3-0 sweep.
The Red Storm fell in the second and third sets by 25-20 and 25-21 scores.
Isabel Martin finished with 17 points to lead Peru and teammate Olivia Bousquet chipped in 28 assists.
Madie Gay led Saranac Lake with 13 points.
