Patriots hand SL first CVAC loss

CLINTONVILLE — The Saranac Lake boys basketball team suffered its first loss of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season Tuesday night with a 49-38 defeat against AuSable Valley.

The Red Storm fell behind early as the Patriots raced out to a 30-16 lead by halftime. Saranac Lake fought back in the third quarter with a 16-9 run, but AuSable Valley put the game away with a strong defensive effort in the fourth.

Joe Viscardo led the way offensively for the Red Storm with 12 points. Teammate Sean Lincoln chipped in eight points and Ben Salls finished with five.

AuSable Valley’s Kobe Parrow led all scorers in the game with 29 points. He scored 22 of those in the first half, eclipsing the 1,000 mark for his career in the process.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Keene 58, Lake Placid 9

KEENE VALLEY — The Keene girls basketball team came out strong Tuesday night and never looked back on the way to a dominating 58-9 Mountain and Valley Conference victory over Lake Placid.

The Beavers led 24-0 after the first quarter and 32-7 by halftime.

Hanna Whitney scored 10 points, Elaina Smith had 15 points and 13 rebounds and Elly Smith added 10 points to pace Keene.

Camille Craig led Lake Placid with three points.
