To the editor:
As Saranac Lake’s most recent Winter Carnival king and queen, we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you, thank you, thank you to all those who not only provided us with this opportunity, but also to those who made it such a wonderful experience once we began our reign. We certainly couldn’t have done it without the help and support of these many family members, friends and volunteers.
First and foremost, we would like to thank our spouses, Richard and Sue. Their patience in working around our crazy schedules allowed us to wholeheartedly enjoy our experience. We would also like to thank those who nominated us and those who voted for us. Please know that this honor you awarded us is very much appreciated. We would also like to thank those who served with us on the 2018 court. We would particularly like to acknowledge Princess Victoria Smith, Prince Daniel Loblanco, Chamberlain Drew Benware and Archbishop Christine Bell. Enjoying this experience with them forged friendships that will last a lifetime. Finally, we would like to send out a huge thank-you to all the volunteers that make the Winter Carnival possible. From the IPW 101 building the incredible Ice Palace to the many sporting events and social gatherings organized by the Winter Carnival Committee, to the Gala Parade and three sets of fireworks that take place during Carnival week, we are able to see how the efforts of volunteers can have such a huge impact on our community.
Once again, thank you to everyone who has been so generous in their support of us. Serving as your 2018 Winter Carnival king and queen was both an honor and a privilege — not to mention an unbelievably fun time. We are proud to represent the people, community and spirit of Saranac Lake. It is a magical place and we are so proud to call it our home.
