Library gives thanks for support
To the editor:
As the daylight hours shorten and we head into the waning days of the year, it’s a good time to reflect on the past twelve months. It’s also a good time to express gratitude and to say thank you.
For 110 years the Saranac Lake Free Library has been an indispensable part of our community. It is easy to understand why. For the last 110 years the library’s board, staff, volunteers and patrons have all been community members who have worked together to provide services, programs and resources for folks who live here and for those visiting the area.
So on behalf of the board of trustees and the staff, I’d like to say thank you if you’ve volunteered in the Adirondack Research Room, shelved books upstairs or participated in our Spring Clean Up Day. Thank you if you’ve mowed the lawn, spruced up the garden or assisted with the Library Luncheon Series or children’s programs. Thank you, we very much appreciate your efforts when you helped move books or sat with a cashier’s box at the Winter Book Sale or the summer Come to the Fair book sale.
We couldn’t have provided all the services and programs that make the SLFL such a special place without your help.
And thank you for your generous monetary support over the past year. When you chose to write a check for the Membership Drive, Adopt-A-Book Program, made a memorial donation or contributed to the Year-End Campaign, you made a difference. All of your generous acts help to ensure that the Saranac Lake Free Library will be here for many years in the future. By giving your time, effort, expertise or by contributing to the Membership Drive or the Year-End Campaign, you are helping to secure the library’s future for yourself and those who will call Saranac Lake “my home” in the years to come.
Thank you and have a happy and safe holiday season.
Sincerely,
Peter Benson
