Vote Nov. 7 for Hamm and DeMars in town of Franklin

To the editor:

I am writing to give my support for Don Hamm for councilman and Jacques DeMars for highway superintendent for the town of Franklin.

Councilman Hamm has served the town as councilman for eight years. Throughout his term, Don has provided guidance, expertise and a steady hand in dealing with issues ranging from highway construction and maintenance to building planning and construction. His knowledge and experience have proven to be invaluable. Don has always kept his eye keenly focused on making sure that the taxpayers got the very best value for their tax dollars.

Jacques DeMars has spent nine years as highway superintendent, and during this time, he has made significant innovations. One such change was going from two to one man per truck, thus eliminating the need for a “wing man.” This has resulted in a tremendous savings in unnecessary overtime. He has instituted staggered shifts during winter months, which ensures longer coverage during critical snow-removal periods and significantly saves money on overtime as well. Under Jacques’s supervision, the highway fund balance has steadily increased, which in turn enables us to update equipment when needed and allows us to do additional paving when necessary.

The contributions of both of these men have made them invaluable to our town and makes them highly deserving of your support. Please vote on Nov. 7, and please give these two men your favorable consideration.

Sincerely,

Art Willman
