Thanks for featuring Van Nortwicks
To the editor:
Thank you for publishing the story of the three Van Nortwick brothers who served in the Army Air Corps, Army and Navy during World War II. Miles was known by the name Miles around Saranac Lake and surrounding areas, not Robert. His mother was Edna, and it is her father Peter Dubray who is buried in Redford (another interesting story of brothers who fought in the Civil War). There is a Van Nortwick who also fought for the Union and was buried in a national cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee. Miles’s wife Rose is a first-generation American who was born in Denver, Colorado. I am sure some of your readership were wondering about some of the names as the Van Nortwick family is one of the oldest family names in Saranac Lake. Thank you.
