North Elba supervisor should debate
To the editor:
As a resident of the town of North Elba, I was dismayed to read in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise that Robi Politi, our North Elba town supervisor, is unwilling to debate his opponent, Brian Barrett, before the upcoming election. Single-party government at any level is a recipe for corruption. If no one challenges elected officials, they begin to think of their office as being their own personal business opportunity. We need a chance to hear young people like Brian Barrett challenge the establishment. That’s how swamps get drained. That is how democracy works.
