Columnist right about ‘Wheels of misfortune’
To the editor:
I totally agree with Bob Seidenstein’s description of bike riding in and around Saranac Lake. It is scary.
I’m too afraid to ride in the road, except on the back of Helen Street hill and around Moody Pond, or out Kiwassa Road. Sometimes I ride my Jessica Fletcher bike on the sidewalk but move off if people are present. Would prefer a ticket or to get yelled at by cops than to lose my life or wind up in a nursing home.
Since the best solution (wider streets with bike lanes) is not going to happen, I suggest signage at entries to town and some around town as reminders. If people are reminded to yield to bike riders, perhaps we can all get along.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Zahn
