Thank you to the community

To the editor:

As most of your readers know, on Dec. 10 our precious Christina was in a snowmobile accident that took the life of her best friend. After extensive treatment at the University of Vermont Medical Center, Tina was returned to us to continue her recovery and healing at home. As we were in Vermont, experiencing one of the most challenging times in our lives, we began to see an overwhelming outpouring of love and support from the community. Starting with our own dear families, continuing with our St. Joe’s family and the Saranac Lake school district students, teachers and administrators, with friends, neighbors and even people we didn’t know, we were strengthened and comforted by the amazing response to our situation, by the love and affection expressed for Christina, and by the messages of care and concern for all of us.

We would like to thank all those who contributed to Tina’s GoFundMe account, everyone who supported the benefit dinner at the Bloomingdale firehouse put on by the kind and generous Eric Wilson, and each person who reached out to us individually to offer love, encouragement, prayers and positive energy. Each and every gesture meant more than we can express. We also thank North Country Life Flight and all the first responders for their dedication to saving lives, including our Christina’s. We wouldn’t have her to love without you.

We would also like to express our love, respect and condolences to the Rascoe family. They are in our thoughts daily and in our hearts forever. Tina misses her best friend but believes Harlie has been by her side every day since Dec. 10.

We believe Tina understands not only how lucky she is to have come through this but how many have expressed their best wishes for her full recovery. She has a long road ahead of her, but she is grateful, and she is eager. Tina’s continuing care and even her future education will be aided immeasurably by the generosity of the kind people who reached out to help Tina in her dire time.

Once again, thank you, thank you, thank you to this incredible community.
