Wonders of Obamacare

To the editor:

I have as strong sense of fair play and firmly believe that everyone must be treated equally and fairly. We all should be on the same playing field. I’ve lived my entire life with this in mind. It has served me quite well, and I have no regrets as I make every attempt to be understanding.

However, my understanding of others is often put to the test as I hear the complaints that President-elect Trump and the Republicans will destroy the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) as we know it. I must remind them that this act that they are so concerned about was passed without a single Republican vote in the house. Recall, “You must pass this bill to find out what is in it.” DOH! Obamacare was passed in the Senate using a parliamentary procedure to ensure its detractors had no say. Good old Harry Reid indeed! President Obama said you can keep your plan and doctor, etc. As it turns out, that wasn’t true. Enough, as this has been argued ad nauseum.

The question that I suggest that the act’s supporters ponder is quite simple and easy to understand. Very simply, if Obamacare is so wonderful, why is the Congress, Senate and president not required to be a part? Why did the “apolitical” Supreme Court, also not covered, vote its constitutionality?

I do not anticipate continuing the discussion on this matter as I know my any arguments will fall on “deft ears.”

My mother admonished me to be careful what you wish for as you just might get it.
