Rangers locate lost duck hunters
HAMMOND — Forest rangers recently rescued a pair of duck hunters who became lost in this St. Lawrence County town southeast of Ogdensburg.
Just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday, two men called the state Department of Environmental Conservation central dispatch to report they had become lost in the thick, tall grass along the shoreline while duck hunting. The men were directed to call 911 so GPS coordinates could be obtained, and the men’s location was determined as being near the end of an access road near Black Lake in Lonesome Bay State Forest.
Rangers responded and located the men in good health at 10:20 p.m. All parties were out of the woods by 11:30 that night.
