DEC announces new take-out on Sacandaga River
The state Department of Environmental Conservation announced last week that it had finished work on a new access point to the Sacandaga River in the southern Adirondacks.
The paddlers’ take-out is on conservation easement land in the town of Arietta, Hamilton County. The easement lands are owned by the Lyme Adirondack Forest Company.
The take-out will allow paddlers to do a roughly 8-mile end-to-end paddle on the West Branch of the river, starting near Good Luck Lake in the Silver Lake Wilderness Area.
The new take-out is located on private easement land, and the public has no rights to the area around the take-out.
