A woman missing for more than 24 hours has been found.

Capt. Robert LaFountain, head of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation for state police Troop B, said Denise Ann McShane, 51, of Jay, was found around 3 p.m. Thursday in the town of Jay.

On Thursday morning, state police issued a press release asking the public to help them find McShane, saying she had been last seen going for a walk at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. A family member had reported her missing, LaFountain said. Police asked anyone who had seen her to call them.

LaFountain said citizens saw McShane near the entrance to their property as they returned home, recognized her from news coverage and called police to report what they had seen. State police arrived and located McShane.
