Investor to speak at NCCC’s 50th annual commencement

SARANAC LAKE — An investment banker will address graduates of North Country Community College at the college’s 50th annual commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 12.

This year’s commencement speaker will be Paul Colligan, the senior director of investments at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc.

Colligan has also worked with several other firms, including Morgan Stanley as a senior vice president, and as a director at the Deutsche Bank. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College. He resides with his wife, Maureen and their three children in Greenwich, Connecticut.

“Paul is an exemplar of success, hard work and service to others and as such, epitomizes NCCC’s mission, vision and values,” college President Steve Tyrell said in a press release. “As the college celebrates its 50th anniversary and continues to put the ‘community’ in community college at the center of its planning for the next 50 years, Paul Colligan is a great example of a successful professional in his own right who has for decades been a volunteer in his community leading others in service.

“Paul has completed missionary work for the sick; fundraised for a 9/11 memorial in Greenwich, Connecticut, and the annual Day of Remembrance; assisted with local United Way efforts to identify and support unmet health, education and self-sufficiency needs; and he has coached youth soccer, skating and intermediate hockey.”

The ceremony will be held at the Sparks Athletic Complex on the Saranac Lake campus. The processional begins at 10:45 a.m., and the program will begin at 11 a.m. The general public is invited to attend.
