Holiday tree lighting Friday in Berkeley Green
SARANAC LAKE — The Downtown Advisory Board, village merchants and businesses will come together Friday for a holiday tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Friday in Berkeley Green.
This year, businesses, residents, and property owners in the Downtown district contributed to purchase and place trees, lights, and planters around town.
In addition to the Friday lighting ceremony, the Northern Lights Choir will lead holiday caroling, and Lonnie Ford will read a family story or two. There will be free hot chocolate and cookies.
This year, the public is invited to vote on decorated storefronts in downtown Saranac Lake. A ballot box will be placed in Berkeley Green from Friday through Dec. 11. On Dec. 12, the Downtown Advisory Board will present a trophy for the holiday decoration winner during its annual mixer at the Fiddlehead Bistro, which runs from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
The Downtown Advisory Board works with the Saranac Lake Office of Community Development to improve the image, livability, and economy of the commercial core of the village. DAB members include business owners, residents, property owners, and those connected to essential programs and events in downtown Saranac Lake. The public is welcome to attend DAB meetings, and to make suggestions supportive of its mission.
