‘Day of Action’ opposes Medicare/Medicaid cuts

Beginning this month, leaders in Congress plan to pass a budget bill that will drastically cut the present coverage of Medicare and Medicaid.

Senator Bernie Sanders has called for a Jan. 15 “Day of Action” to oppose any such cuts to health-care plans or subsidies from the incoming administration.

Two groups in the Tri-Lakes area — Voters for Change and Now What? — along with many individuals, are organizing a gathering in Saranac Lake in support of the “Day of Action,” to remind Donald Trump of his promises and to encourage him to veto any legislation which cuts these vital and necessary programs that are relied upon by many North Country residents.

Organizers are intending this event to be for all Americans who would be affected by passage of these proposed cuts. The rally will gather at the Riverside Park in Saranac Lake at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15.

This is a nation-wide series of events and a rally will also be held in Plattsburgh from 1 to 3 p.m. at 23 Durkee St., outside the office of Rep. Elise Stefanik.

Starting at $19.00/week.
