Dr. Lombardi as interim medical director for hospitalist services at Adirondack Health

SARANAC LAKE — This week, Adirondack Health announced the selection of Anthony F. Lombardi, M.D. as the organization’s interim medical director for hospitalist services. Dr. Lombardi, a 2001 graduate of the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine, completed his residency at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine and received his clinical appointment in 2013.

“One of the things that makes Adirondack Health such a rewarding place to work is the amount of time you get to spend with each individual patient,” said Dr. Lombardi. “Our dedicated hospitalists work around the clock to care for our inpatients, and I am excited to be leading this critical effort.”

A hospitalist is an acute-care physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner who cares for a hospital patient from admission to discharge. At Adirondack Health, hospitalists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide patients with timely and compassionate care.

Upon admission, Adirondack Health’s hospitalists immediately begin treatment plans which may include ordering lab tests and prescribing medications. The hospitalist and a patient’s primary care physician communicate regularly during a patient’s hospital stay. Upon discharge, the hospitalist provides a full report, and the primary care physician resumes responsibility for the patient.
