ELIZABETHTOWN – In a show of support for one of the area’s largest hospitals, Champlain National Bank has gifted $20,000 to Elizabethtown Community Hospital, which is part of the University of Vermont Health Network.

“We feel it is important to support the hospital that takes care of so many of our employees and clients,” Champlain National Bank President and CEO Steven Cacchio said. “Both the Bank and ECH understand the challenges of serving rural areas, so giving our contribution dollars to the hospital is a great way to give back to our community.”

“Champlain National Bank and Elizabethtown Community Hospital have each served our local communities for a number of years. We are thrilled that the bank has chosen to support the hospital through an incredibly generous gift to its capital campaign,” Elizabethtown Community Hospital President John Remillard said.

Phase one of the hospital expansion and renovation project, completed this past June, expanded the hospital’s footprint through the construction of larger and more modern patient rooms; along with upgrades to the heating, cooling, electrical and plumbing systems in that part of the building.

Phase two of the project is almost complete. The inpatient rehabilitation area will provide a beautiful and more efficient environment for therapy staff to assist patients with their recovery. Larger space, along with infrastructure enhancements, will offer a comfortable, state-of-the-art environment in which to complete their recovery after surgery, a prolonged hospital stay or joint replacement surgery.

Phase three is also now underway and will offer private exam space, a kitchen, family waiting area, a new meeting room and storage space. It is expected to be complete by the spring of 2017.

Champlain National Bank was founded in 1909 in Essex County and is still locally owned and managed today, and committed to the people living in the Adirondacks. It has branches located in Lake Placid, Keene, Elizabethtown, Westport, Willsboro, Crown Point, Plattsburgh, and Champlain, and has a full offering of mortgages, commercial loans, and mobile banking products.
