The government doesn’t want you to save money
To the editor:
Did you know the EPA wants to shut down the ENERGY STAR program? This is bad news for Americans who want to make smart choices.
ENERGY STAR works in two simple ways: It puts a blue label on products that use less power, and it gives you a bright yellow EnergyGuide that shows exactly how much money you’ll spend to run each appliance. No need to be a scientist! The label tells you which washers, fridges and air conditioners will keep your bills low. It’s like having a trusted friend who knows which products won’t waste your hard-earned money.
Since 1992, this simple blue label has saved American families and businesses over $500 billion in energy costs. That’s real money that stays in our pockets.
The program doesn’t tell you what to buy. It just gives you honest information so YOU can decide.
That’s the American way — freedom to choose with the facts in front of you!
Without ENERGY STAR labels, how will we know which products save money? Big companies could trick us into buying energy hogs that drain our wallets every month.
Take action now: Call your representatives in Washington and tell them to save ENERGY STAR. We deserve the freedom to make smart energy choices.
Sincerely,
