‘Looking: Around Town’ opens at guild

SARANAC LAKE — “Looking: Around Town,” a new exhibit of photographs by Burdette Parks, opens Friday, June 6 at the Adirondack Artists Guild Gallery. The show offers an opportunity to look at Saranac Lake in new and fun ways.
A year and a half ago, Parks presented an exhibit focusing on often overlooked woodland objects revealed by closer observation. This new show, using the same approach, highlights discoveries from within Saranac Lake’s historic village. Looking more closely, more carefully or just changing perspective can render things that have become invisible through repetition fresh and exciting again. Most of the exhibit’s photos are printed in black and white, thus removing the distraction of color to focus on form and structure and to reflect the history of the village. There may be nothing in this show a local visitor hasn’t seen before, probably thousands of times; but after visiting this exhibit, they might see something with fresh eyes.
Fifteen percent of all sales from the show will be donated to the Saranac Lake Food Bank.
The gallery will host an opening reception from 5 to7 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. The show will run through July 1st.
