Crew from New York goes to help fight wildfires in Northwest

ALBANY (AP) — A crew from New York will be helping fight wildfires in the Northwest.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Friday that a crew of 20 employees and volunteers from the state Department of Environmental Conservation are traveling west to fight the fires for two weeks. Wildfires are burning in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and other states.

Cuomo says the forest rangers and other crew members from New York will join firefighters from other states.

Travel and administrative costs will be paid by the U.S. Forest Service or reimbursed to the state.
