SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake girls basketball team kicked off the season with a win on Wednesday, topping the Willsboro Wolves 47-45.
The Red Storm’s Emma Akey paced her team with 17 points, while Aria Knobel also reached double-digits with 12 points for the hosts, who jumped out 12-8 first quarter advantage.
However, Willsboro responded with strong second and third quarters, claiming a 34-32 lead. But in the final frame, Saranac Lake outscored its opponents 15-11 to secure the victory.
Mackenzie Crane and Ashley Tomaszewski each scored six points for the Red Storm as Ellie Willett added four points and Sophie Baker chipped in with two.
