Storm boys top Ti, LP falls

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake boys basketball secured their first league win, topping the Ticonderoga Sentinels 40-31 Friday evening.

The Red Storm led from start to finish in the contest, as their defense was strong and team depth provided a solid advantage. Saranac Lake was led by Mik Denkenberger and Zack McCarthy, who added 12 points each.

Up next, the Red Storm, which improved to 2-0 overall, will take on the Saranac Central Spartans at 7 p.m. on the road Friday.

Seton Catholic 61, Lake Placid 25

The Lake Placid boys basketball team suffered a 61-25 road loss to the Seton Catholic Knights on Thursday.

Caleb Wylie led the Blue Bombers with 11 points, while Hugh Kissel added eight, Sean McCauley scored four and Zach Kissel chipped in with two.

Seton Catholic’s Michael Mannix scored a game-high 25 points, and Oliver Hughes added 16.

Lake Placid, which is now 0-1 to kick off the season, is slated to take on St. Regis Falls at 6 p.m. today on the road.
