SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Placid girls hockey team tied the Canton Golden Bears 1-1 on Sunday in the second game of the team’s annual Holiday Tournament at the Saranac Lake Civic Center.

Madison Blinn opened up scoring, netting a goal on assists from Emma Clark and Harper Strack early in the first period. However, Canton’s Saige Blevins evened the game with a power-play goal right before the end of the opening frame, following a pass from Callie Tebo.

Neither squad found the back of the net the remainder of the game as SLP’s goalie, Allison LaHart, recorded 19 saves, while the Golden Bears’ Myrah Bullock also had 19 stops.

The SLP girls, which are now 4-4-1 overall, will take on Ithaca at 3:30 p.m. on the road Tuesday in Alexandria Bay. The team will then take on host Alexandria Bay High School at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. SLP’s next home game is slated for Jan. 7 against Beekmantown at the Saranac Lake Civic Center.
