LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid boys basketball team secured a 34-24 road victory over the St. Regis Falls Saints on Monday.

Blue Bombers senior Caleb Wylie led all scorers with 11 points, but despite the strong performance, the Saints jumped out to a 13-12 lead at halftime.

The game was back-and-forth until midway through the third quarter, when Lake Placid’s Zack Kissel stepped up to hit two 3-pointers in a row to put Lake Placid ahead. Wylie anchored the defense in the fourth to hold the Saints to just two points.

Zack Kissel finished with nine points, while his twin brother, Hugh Kissel, added six. Sean McCauley chipped in with four points for Lake Placid, while Torrin Fadden and Eric Rock added two points each.

The Blue Bombers, which improved to 1-1 overall, were slated to host the Willsboro Wolves at 6 p.m. on Friday. Following that contest, the team will take on the Chateaugay Bulldogs at 3 p.m. at North Country Community College on Saturday.

The Lake Placid girls basketball team suffered a 55-23 road loss to the Chazy Eagles on Tuesday.

The Eagles jumped out to a 30-10 lead at halftime and seemingly never looked back. The Blue Bombers’ Alaya Whittaker paced her team with eight points, while Ella Moodey added six and Johnylin Corrow scored three. Also for Lake Placid Ellie Shipman, Ella Wilson and Elyse Hathaway chipped in with two points each.

The Blue Bombers are now 1-1 overall as the team opened up the season with a 24-17 victory over the Seton Catholic Knights on Dec. 4. Lake Placid slated to take on the Willsboro Wolves on the road at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The squad’s next home game will be on Jan. 12 against the Indian Lake/Long Lake Orange.
