LAKE PLACID — Registration is open for the 46th Annual Empire State Winter Games, taking place Feb. 5-8, 2026. Athletes of all ages, from across the state and beyond, are invited to compete in the United States’ largest and longest-continuing multi-winter sporting event, being held in Lake Placid and surrounding Adirondack communities.

“We’re anticipating almost 2,800 athletes to participate in February’s Games, making it one of the largest to date,” Adirondack Sports Council executive director Karlan Jessen said. “Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or a rising star, this is your chance to showcase your skills, embrace the spirit of winter sports and be part of a celebrated tradition that brings together thousands of participants and spectators each year.”

The Empire State Winter Games continue to grow and evolve. Last year marked the exciting debut of curling, and this year’s program welcomes bowling to the lineup, where it will join other winter sports to include curling, figure skating, boys’ and girls’ ice hockey, luge, Nordic skiing, skeleton, speed skating and winter triathlon.

“We’re thrilled to welcome bowling to the Empire State Winter Games lineup this year — it’s a fantastic addition that reflects our commitment to broaden the Games’ appeal and accessibility,” Jessen said.

The 46th Annual Empire State Winter Games kick off with an opening ceremony, Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Lake Placid Olympic Center’s 1980 Herb Brooks Arena.

Registration is open to be a part of February’s Empire State Winter Games. Athletes can log onto empirestatewintergames.com to register.
