Three Tri-Lakes girls hockey players — Harper Strack of Lake Placid, Anna Kavanagh of Tupper Lake and Kayla Harvey of Saranac Lake — who compete for the Canton Blades, won one of the nation’s largest all-girls hockey tournaments on Nov. 9. The Blades captured the Tier 1 Yellow Division Championship, consisting of 12 teams, the Roc City Girls Fest, in Rochester.
The Roc City Girls Fest is one of the premier girls hockey tournaments in the Northeast, featuring top teams from across the region. The Blades went undefeated for their third straight tournament, outscoring opponents 30-6 on their way to this championship. They previously won the Can-Am Challenge Cup in Lake Placid and the Northern Girls Icebreaker Invitational in Canton.
During the Rochester tournament, they beat the Valley Jr. Warriors 4-0; the Rochester Jr. Americans 5-1; the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers 4-0; the Boston Jr. Eagles 7-4; the Pittsburgh Steel City Selects 3-1; and in the championship game, they topped the Skaneateles Lakers 7-0.

The team includes players from Canton, Potsdam, Massena, Ogdensburg, Mooers, Tupper Lake, Akwesasne, Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. Strack and Harvey are also members of the SLP girls varsity hockey team.
