NAC tops Red Storm girls soccer

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake girls soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to the Northern Adirondack Bobcats on Monday.

The Bobcats’ Kelsey Magoon and Jamie LaPoint each scored a goal in the second half to seal the win. Magoon also assisted on LaPoint’s goal.

“This was a tough game for us,” Saranac Lake’s head coach Jason Wamsganz said. “I didn’t feel like we were ready to play when the game started. We were slow getting to our marks and had a tough time transitioning. We had some good play at times, but we seemed to try and make one too many touches or we missed a pass that could have sprung an opportunity, just one of those nights where the ball wasn’t bouncing in our favor.”

Northern Adirondack finished with a 10-7 edge in shots. The Red Storm’s goalie, Emma Akey, recorded five saves, while Lexi Wray had four for the Bobcats.

Up next, Saranac Lake, which dropped to 2-6-1 overall, will take on the Ticonderoga Sentinels at 6:30 p.m. on the road.

“They beat us here Friday night and we hope to turn the tables down there,” Wamsganz said. “(Addie) Munson hurt us with two of their three goals and she was difficult to contain. We’ll have to do a better job Thursday on her to give ourselves a chance.”

Starting at $3.92/week.
