The Falcons used a physical game plan to overpower Tupper Lake, as injuries, turnovers, mistakes and big plays plagued the Lumberjacks and kept them behind the chains.

The team also played with only 14 eligible players to start the game, and with injuries during the game, kids had to play in different positions than they are used to. Lumberjacks head coach Dennis Klossner said his team did a great job and played with pride.

Liam McClain had a solid day running the ball for Tupper Lake, recording 169 yards on 31 carries. Quarterback Knaullyn Durfee ran for 20 yards while completing four of his 14 passes for 35 yards.

Up next, the Lumberjacks, which dropped to 0-6, will host the OnTech (Syracuse) Grey Wolves at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The Grey Wolves are currently 0-7, and following the Lumberjacks game against South Lewis the team attended an OnTech high school game on Saturday afternoon so they could get a live look at them for next week.

Following the OnTech game, the Lumberjacks also watch the Syracuse University football team take on Pittsburgh.

“We have a wonderful Booster Club, which includes Connie and Mitch Robillard, Mark and Louis Dupree, Mike Russell, Tim Larkin and Rick Dattola,” Klossner said. “These people made it possible for the kids to enjoy the weekend and have a great experience. The whole weekend is paid for by our Booster Club. The booster club paid for the hotel accommodation, pizza and soda after the South Lewis game, lunch at McDonald’s after the OnTech Game, Syracuse game tickets and food during the game. Our booster club does a great job taking care of the whole football program both modified and varsity.”
