Community bike jam kicks off tonight
LAKE PLACID — The Barkeater Trails Alliance Community Bike Jam is tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Placid Olympic Skating Oval, 2634 Main St. The event is free and open to everyone with an interest in mountain biking, BMX stunts and kid-friendly community celebration.
The event features Montreal-based BMX stunt team “KRUSHER” and a chance to meet the athletes, roving drumline samba and reggae band “Fogo Azul,” a kids’ bike skills park and more. Regional visitors can kick off a weekend of WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series with this free downtown event.
BETA’s mission is to build, maintain and advocate for a system of community and backcountry trails for ski touring, mountain biking and other human-powered activities in the eastern High Peaks region of the Adirondack Park. BETA manages over 125 miles of trails including the Jackrabbit Ski Trail, East Branch Community Trails in Keene, Craigwood/Scott’s Cobble trails in Lake Placid, Hardy Road trails in Wilmington, Dewey Mountain trails in Saranac Lake, trails at Blueberry Hill in Elizabethtown, and more.
