LAKE PLACID — The complete results of Last Man Standing Lake Placid were announced on Wednesday.
The ultra-distance race challenged runners to push their limits, with competitors running 4.167-mile laps on the hour, every hour, for as long as they were able and willing — they just had to be able to begin the next lap at the top of the hour.
The race took place on the trails around Mount Van Hoevenberg and began at 9 a.m. Saturday. The race’s overall winner was Ramon Dominguez, 48, who lasted 27 laps, or 112.5 miles over 27 hours after the event began. The women’s winner was Sarah Sharpe, who lasted 19 laps, or about 79.2 miles over 19 hours.
She was tied for fourth place overall with Riley Williams. Event organizer and owner of Beastmode Running Company, Anthony Samoraj noted that for most of the hourly laps, Sharpe was the first runner to cross the line, often doing so several minutes ahead of the next runner.
The top masters finishers — those ages 45 and older in addition to Dominguez, the overall winner — for men and women, respectively, were Daniel Wallace, 49, and Amanda Gibbs, 45. Wallace lasted 14 laps, or 58.3 miles over 14 hours to claim 13th place overall. Gibbs lasted 12 laps, or 50 miles over 12 hours to finish in a nine-way tie for 16th place overall.
