Baseball teams compete in tourney

LAKE PLACID — More than 50 youth baseball teams descended on the Tri-Lakes region this past weekend for the annual Battle in the Daks.

The tournament, which was hosted by Dale Hayes and the Adirondack Lightning baseball team, kicked off on Friday and held its championship games on Sunday. There were around 90 games played across seven different divisions — U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 and Open Men — at the baseball fields in Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake.

The U12 teams played in two divisions:

Skylight Division: Saranac Lake YBA, Massena, Cayuga Bombers and TC Arsenal.

Hough Division: Camillus Wildcats, Clinton County Mariners, Ogdensburg Maples and Watertown Thunder.

The U13 teams were: FLX Clippers, Upper Deck Titans, North Tonawanda NightHawks, Prime Baseball, Lou Gehrig Blue and CNY Soldiers.

The U14 teams played in four divisions:

Whiteface Division: Adirondack Lightning, Prime North Baseball, TC Arsenal and Cage Heat.

Gothics Division: Clinton County Mariners, AP Elite, Bainbridge Diamond Sharks and Sorensco Falcons.

Santanoni Division: Champlain Cougars, FLX Clippers, Lou Gehrig IronHorse and Cayuga Bombers.

Phelps Division: Liquid Prime Baseball, 518 Velocity, Schuylerville Stallions and 802 Lab Rats.

The U15 teams played in two divisions:

Saddleback division: AuSable River Bandits, Canandaigua Grey Wolves, Bainbridge Diamond Sharks and Cayuga Bombers.

Sawteeth division: FLX Clippers, Sorensco Falcons, Diamond Dawgs and TC Arsenal

The U16 teams played in two divisions:

Upper division: Lyon Mountain Jr. Miners, West Genessee Wildcats, 518 Velocity (16) and the Saranac Lake Mudcats.

Lower division: TC Arsenal, Liquid Prime Baseball, Clinton County Mariners and 518 Velocity (15).

The U17 teams were: West Genesee Wildcats, CNY Soldiers, Ajax Spartans, FLX Clippers and CNY Pioneers.

The men’s Open Division teams were: Essex County Expos, Lake Placid Brewers, Lyon Mountain Miners and Seaway Surge.
