‘Jacks baseball blanked by Saints in subregional round
TROY — The Tupper Lake baseball team’s season came to an end on Thursday evening. The Lumberjacks were blanked by the Saratoga Central Catholic Saints 9-0 in the NYSPHSAA Class C subregional round at the Joe Bruno Stadium at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.
The Saints, Section 2’s Class C champions, used three pitchers to combine for a one-hitter. Carson Moser started on the mound and struck out eight, while Tyler Weygand had two strikeouts and Luke Dejnozka had one.
SCC recorded 13 total hits, as Hunter Fales and Ronan Rowe led the charge with three hits each. Teammates Pierce Byrne and Ryan Gillis also chipped in with each adding a pair of hits. Tupper Lake’s Wyatt Godin had his team’s lone hit.
With the win, the Saints, which improved to 24-1 overall, will take on the Section VII champion, Ticonderoga Sentinels, today at noon at the Dutchmen Field at Keenholts Park in Altamont.
Meanwhile, the Lumberjacks closed out their season with an overall record of 16-4.
